Q: How Can I Receive a Sticker Star?
A: Sticker stars may be given to reward good behavior in class most of the time. Some of the actions we reward include standing at attention, helping out other classmates, or knowing and demonstrating the word of the week.
(5 sticker stars = 1 real star!)
Q: What is a Real Star?
A: A real star is made of cloth. It is designed to be sewn onto the "Victory Patch" and worn with honor. There are four types of real stars we reward our students with: Blue, Silver, Gold, and Blue/Gold. Red stars may be earned by competing in an ATA Tournament only. Silver Star are given to students who test, participate in public demonstrations, or demonstrate what they know in their own Karate for Kids class. Gold stars may be earned by turning in ten 100% or good work on homework assignments complete with proof of approval from the teacher. Gold stars may also be earned by having good behavior in school
(2 gold star reports = 1 gold star)
Most Frequently Needed Answers to the Mystery of Stars:
Do not turn in two, six or eight stars. Instructors will not remember every credited star. It is just impossible. So please turn stars in groups of five, ten, fifteen, twenty, etc. Instructors will not give credit for extra stars. Stars are to be turned in before class begins. They should be mounted on a piece of paper with the child's name. Real stars are not replaceable; however they may be purchased for $0.25 each.
Don't Forget!
New students who are not members - yet, keep your real stars in a safe place. A Victory Patch must be sewn on the left breast of the uniform for future star placement. After receiving 25 cloth stars on your Victory Patch, you may turn in those stars for a new V-Patch, or you may purchase a new V-Patch for $8.00. We have a list available in the Coffee's Karate for Kids information binder of the many items you may purchase.
